Pakistan was chosen to host the tournament, but the Indian cricket team was initially unwilling to play matches there. Eventually, a compromise was reached: India would participate in a hybrid model, playing their matches in a different country.
The schedule for the 2023 Asia Cup, jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, has been announced. The tournament is set to take place from August 30 to September 17. Kicking off the 2023 Asia Cup in Multan will be Pakistan facing Nepal in the opening match. The tournament will adhere to the fifty-over format and features six teams, grouped into two sets of three.
Group A comprises Pakistan, India, and Nepal, while Group B includes Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka. This event will follow a hybrid model, with Pakistan overseeing four matches across two venues and Sri Lanka overseeing the rest.
Following the six group-stage matches, the Super 4s stage will commence on September 6. The ultimate match will see the top two teams from the Super 4s competing in the final on September 17 in Colombo.
