The world’s adventure city is rapidly becoming South Africa. We had many times the privilege of visiting South Africa and found many interesting things to do.
From the first time, we have cycled the west coast of South African territory from Namibia to Cape Town from St. Lucia to the Cape of Good Hope and have traveled from there to the whole east coast of South Africa.
To help you schedule your holiday, we’ll send you a summary of the best things to do in South Africa. South Africa has everything from safaris to caves and sea life and scenery! Good luck.
SUTHER AFRICA TO GREAT THEYS.
- GO ON AN AFRICAN SAFARI
There is no question that a safari is to be included in every travel to Africa in South Africa. In Southern Africa, you will go on an Africa safari in pursuit of the Big 5 (African Buffalo, Rhinos, Elephants, Lion, and leopard) reserves and national parks. There will be no journey to South Africa without a safari. Trust me, we saw it on our first journey to South Africa and regret it for years to come.
We really enjoyed going to the Safari where we had one of the luxury safaris we have ever had. There was wildlife in the river lodge.
- HORSE SAFARI IN HLUHLUWE & IMFOLOZI NATIONAL PARK
In St. Lucia, iSimangaliso Wetlands Park, our personally chosen spot for a safari in South Africa. Here, in the midst of zebras and wild beasts, we went on our horse safari via Hluhluwe & Imfolozi National Park. Read all about it
- HIPPOS OF ISIMANGALISO WETLANDS
We also sailed an exceptional Hippo River Cruise at iSimangaliso Wetlands.
- South Africa CRUGER AND OTHER PARKS SAFARI
The Kruger National Park is the number one safari park of South Africa, but there are other places to see wildlife in Africa aside here and elsewhere. With a size of 19,000 km, this is a special game drive as you can drive yourself in comparison to other African safaris.
Hluhluwe & Imfolozi National Park is the oldest game reserve in South Africa that is known for its population of white and black rhino and the largest rhino population in Africa is Hluhluwe & Imfolozi!
The national park of Addo Elephant is one of the best spots to see elephants.
- BLYDE RIVER CANYON NATURE RESERVE
Only Grand Canyon and Fish River Canyon in Namibia we saw during our bike trip down South Africa is a Blyde River canyon one of the biggest canyons in the world. You’re out if you didn’t see one of this elegance. But the lush green vegetation distinguishes Blyde River Canyon.
The Blyde River Canyon is part of a panorama route that includes Mpumalanga Mountain Range and Kruger National Park, a famous road trip to South Africa. It belongs to the Panorama Path.
- DRAKENSBERG MOUNTAINS
There are two areas you would not want to miss when you visit South Africa if you travel to Johannesburg. The Drakensberg Mountains and the Kruger National Park (see #4 of our South African list of things to do). Drakensberg is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO that is suitable for walks and bikes. The highest mountain range in South Africa extends for 1000 kilometers. And you’re definitely going to have an adventure here or two.
Johannesburg or Durban will enter the Drakensberg Mountains, according to the venue. We built our Durban base.
- EXPLORE CAPE TOWN
Cape Town is one of the great towns where you say “I’m going to live here!”It’s awesome, culture-filled, contemporary, business, store and entertainment.
The city is the backdrop to Table Mountain with V&A in the foreground. A beautiful view from a cruise. Table Mountain you can take a cable car or walk. Paragliding off the head of Lions and abseiling off the cliff. In Cape Town, it is the number one thing to do.
- VISIT ROBBEN ISLAND
A visit to Robben Island is one of the soberest attractions in South Africa. It is important to learn more about apartheid in South Africa while visiting Cape Town. Nelson Mandela is now a UNESCO World Heritage site and was imprisoned 29 years ago.
Take a boat to the island and see how political prisoners during the apartheid have been handled. It’s a sniffy tour to learn how inmates in the highest security jail have been held. You will see Nelson Mandela’s cell unchanged since his imprisonment.
- SPY ON THE SIMONS TOWN PENGUINS
South Africa is one of the best destinations outside the Antarctic for visiting penguins. Rent a car and see Boulder’s Beach’s Penguins at Simons Town. The journey takes you through Chapman’s Peak, one of the biggest panorama drives on earth. They are probably the most stunning of South Africa’s attractions to spy on. Driving to Cape of Good Hope for the spectacular sea views continues during an excursion to Simon’s Town.
- EXPLORE THE CANGO CAVES
Cango caves are South Africa’s oldest tourist attraction and one of our finest winery systems.
The regular tour is a quick and beautiful journey through massive rooms, but take the adventure tour if you meet the challenge. The Adventure Tour will take you along narrow paths with 26 centimeters of openings. It’s not because of the faint spirit, but because of great praise.
